Thanksgiving—the kickoff of the holiday season—is just around the corner. There is so much to get excited about: pie making, sharing a delicious meal with loved ones, and having time to reflect about all that we’re thankful for. I wanted to share with you a few of my favorite ways to celebrate and get into the holiday spirit!
One of my favorite Thanksgiving traditions is doing a Turkey Trot with my friends and neighbors! Try looking into Turkey Trots in your neighborhood—it’s a great way to start the day and make room for lots of turkey and stuffing later. My daughters, my friends, and I all look forward to this every year, and so do our dogs. What’s even better is that a lot of times Turkey Trots charge a small entrance fee and donate it to local food banks for the holiday. It’s a great way to give back and have fun!
Another thing I love to do is have friends over for a baking party the night before Thanksgiving. I coordinate with a few girlfriends to decide on what to make—usually pies, but we have made baked brie cheese before and it was really fun!—and get together, catch up, laugh, and cook! This year, my amazing friend Abbie’s 1-year-old baby is joining in on the fun. It’s always wonderful when my daughters, their friends, and me and my friends are together baking and laughing. Memories are made in the kitchen!
I also love to start Thanksgiving by thinking about all of the things I’m grateful for. Many of them are people I’m beyond blessed to have in my life, and I spend the morning of the holiday calling and chatting with them. I always call Pam, my best friend since high school, my cousins and aunts and uncles, and spend a nice long time in the kitchen talking with my mom over morning coffee before the girls are up. These are my favorite moments of Thanksgiving that I always cherish.
Love, Catherine xo
What are your favorite ways to celebrate? Let me know in the comments or on instagram at @DaisyCountry.
Dear Catherine,
You may have thought of this already, but I was thinking about remaking the Dukes of Hazard not in the 1980,s style but more for 2023. Where Daisy, Bo and Luke can fill the role of Uncle Jesse giving guidance and support. Of course a beautiful niece with spectacular legs perhaps, Butter Cup and a couple of nephews named Joe and Duke. The General Lee, well you can try it and see how it goes. It can be Bo and Luke’s car. With all of that jumping that is done in that show perhaps a monster truck will be a better choice for your nephews or sons. So, you are taking a brake from the camera right now, well you can direct behind the camera or be in cameos it is your choice. Since you are an author, write the shows.
I love you Cathy and the dukes stay safe

Just discovered your site. Always a fan of the show, never missed a Friday night with the Dukes, until those other cousins showed up. I’m glad to see your doing well. God bless you
